There's an alternate (http://gulf2000.columbia.edu/images/maps/Baghdad_Ethnic_2003_sm.jpg) interpretation (http://gulf2000.columbia.edu/images/maps/Baghdad_Ethnic_Mid_2008_sm.jpg) of the reason Iraq is stabilizing. To the extent we're still pretending to care about the Afghans, we don't want that happening again over there.
