I would also add that a bit of an ironic twist comes in that Bulgaria did this when the US people and government both washed their hands of the issue by hiding behind the 1924 Immigration Laws. And the UK did much the same by shipping German Jews who'd fled the Concentration Camps to internment in Canada, and of course the USSR had the Doctor's Plot following WWWII......

And not only Bulgaria here, Denmark (another country that to put it bluntly did everything Hitler asked without even thinking twice for most of the war) also shipped most of its Jews out of harm's way......
