Eh, confessions can be gotten from innocent people; it's tough to have an innocent person on video killing a person as well as leaving DNA/fingerprint evidence behind.

There is still, and always will be, the risk of tampering with evidence. But that risk, I suspect, is lower than the risk of false confession.
