But what do I do as a parent? Educate my kids according to Rousseau? Or some other ideological paradigm? Or try to get them into the best schools for them as individuals even if it means re-enforcing their privilege?

I'd prefer a return to properly funded state education, and the hybrid system of assisted places being reinstated and expanded. But that isn't going to happen unless someone in power sees sense. Fat chance.
