If the Russians do what I expect they might well do, march in their armies and do so in a sense not just of defeating Daesh but consolidating a new basis of Russian power in the region and empire-building, then the question is if the United States decides this time to back Russia or Daesh. I mean that's not unprecedented for America to back Islamists when they do their usual tricks against Russian boys, as opposed to American boys.
