There's a spot right by my ex-girlfriend's that is like that. There were 3 of em right next to each other. One was even just a cluster of shitty houses. Every once in a while one would get shut down for illicit drug sales, and 6 to 8 weeks later it would reopen with a slightly different name. Finally the city condemned the whole strip, but I think squatters just took over. I doubt there is much discernable difference in conditions during the day.
