White Supremacy is not a scare word: it is a legitimate explanation of our past, and not our far distant past either. It was legislatively defeated but its effects and repercussions are not yet gone, and some portion of our population still adheres to it. If we don't name it for what it was and what of it is still resonating in our society, we dishonor and undercut the struggle to defeat it. Our national narrative on our Apartheid period and what of its effects still afflict us is infantile
