I love how the word "trying" seems to have missed everyone in their rush to try and prove something incorrect.

It doesn't matter if their dollar profit "just misses record" if their profit margins remain low. Conoco was under 5% (http://www.dailyfinance.com/2012/10/20/big-oil-isnt-as-profitable-as-everyone-thinks/) for 2011, and that factors in the tax breaks they get.
