Science is fact. You are entitled to your opinions, but not your own facts. Science will trundle along nicely regardless of your thoughts.
Most children with clinically diagnosed ADHD do not want to behave like hyperactive howler monkeys. They are frustrated with their physical inability to control themselves regardless of the situation they might find themselves in. if prescribed doses of Adderall, Ritalin, or some other medication helps them to concentrate and focus on tasks and situations they could not otherwise accomplish, then that is a good thing.
The brain is an organ. So is the pancreas. Diabetics sometimes have to take insulin because their pancreas does not function properly. I, along with many others, take a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor because my brain chemistry does not function properly. When my brain chemistry does not function properly. I do not function properly. I experience leaden fatigue and depression that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Over a decade of non-chemical therapies were no help; and I was made to feel that something was wrong with me for not succeeding with them.
Psychiatric care helped me where everything else failed. That is a fact. I am far from the only one. Every time you dismiss it, it pisses me right the fuck off, but I think you get off on that. Perhaps that's your therapy. But at least mine doesn't require angering anyone else who doesn't choose to get involved.
