Appealing to something being a law and saying "well, it's the law" is another form of the bogus logical fallacy known as appeal to authority.

Just because something is a law is in no way shape or form, a reason FOR it to be a law. If we are going to have a discussion about laws, I'll point you towards a lawyer. If we are going to have a discussion about how we think things should work, politically, what we think is wrong and what we think is right, I'll be here.

I will not cede that a law is valid just because it's a law.
