Hamas Admits to Using Human Shields

Alright, just found out about this video from a friend of mine [edit], and I wanted your reactions to it.

[EDIT]

Since mijopo complained of a lack of commentary, I will indulge him/her/it.

I find Hamas nothing more than a brutal terrorist group; I don't find the fact they've been using human shields particularly shocking (one would have to expect that from terrorists). Rather, their blatant pride at admitting the fact is a bit more shocking, if they want good press that is. I also find it shocking that they are still obtaining better press than Israel.

I think they should be dealt with as any terrorist group would be dealt with; they should be found out and exterminated. They pose a serious threat to not only Israel, but other nations and people as well. The fact that they are using human shields should not endear people to them; rather, it should shock and repulse people. They stated that they are willing to sacrifice their own in order to wipe out Israel; that makes me rather frightened for anyone in their sights.

Voltaire warned against fanaticism, and this is fanaticisnm at its finest; they are so extreme that they would willingly have their civilians slaughtered.

I do hope that was up to your exacting standards, mijopo.

[EDIT]

Apologies to all for excessive commenting on my part; I have the genes my father gave me, and that includes a big @#$%ing mouth.

I especially apologize to uberarcanist for being a nit-picky slack-jawed junkslut.

They deluded themselves into thinking what they are doing is brave. In actuality, they are putting out women, children, and the elderly out in front of them to fend off Israeli fire.

They are not doing this though. The aggressor might want to portray it like that, but all Hamas is doing is fighting a guerrilla warfare in an urban area, because they don't exactly have an air force and guided heat missiles to strike at Tel Aviv, so all they can do is fight in their OWN land. I'm not saying lets give Hamas the Noble prize for being the nicest fighters ever, of course not. They ARE a resistance group and their actions do not mean that the IDF can not bear the responsibility for the death they have caused.

and are cuckoo enough to kill their own women, children, and elderly.

The women, children, and elderly were killed by the IDF. If the defender's of Israel think what Israel is doing is right, then they should be brave enough to take responsibility of the death caused.

They are a threat, to not only Israel, but to other nations and people. They won't stop with Israel if they win this conflict. They'll move on to other nations filled with "infidels."

Hamas has shown no clear indication that they are interested in other nations filled with "infidels" and want to export their war.

I prefer Jabba. I mean, how could i not prefer this (http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/080215/Gangsters/Star-Wars-Jabba-the-Hutt_l.jpg)? Just dont let any Jedi approach me!

Besides, what you're seeing is His Highness, Death (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_(Discworld)). From the Discworld (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discworld).

"But they are. They just said that."

You have refused to take my initial post into consideration. Take what they say in the bigger picture, rather than trying to find keywords. It is like when the west attacks the east for their notion of "martyrdom". Giving one's life for a cause has always been something noble in every society, and people or soldiers who do this are considered heroes in the west, but suddenly in the middle eastern culture, the west shows it to be an immoral act, as if the people involved in it are lovers of death and are doing it because of their love for the 72 virgins after death.

This is the same thing. Hamas is not rounding up children, and firing at IDF from behind them. It is guerrilla warfare, waged by a very weak defense force. They can't send an air force to fire on Tel Aviv, nor can they attack with tanks, or can they attack via navy ships, so the only thing they can do is fight in the streets of Gaza.

The video above is obviously a speaker saying to his supporters, that, we all will stand strong against the attackers, and we all will not be afraid. It is something I can imagine being spoken in any country that is under attack

That's because they've been preoccupied with Israel. If Israel is out of the picture, they'll turn onto other countries.

And why would you say that? What are you basing this on?

[identity profile] madali.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I would not like that, because that is wrong. Their death warrants were signed by the people sending the missiles.

The goals and principles of Hamas and Al Qaeda are vastly different. Are you saying they are the same because they are both Islamists? Because the one thing that can be certain about religion, is that it is never really that uniform. Saudi, Iran, and Indonesia are both Islamic country, but they are vastly different. So is Hamas and Al Qaeda. Hamas' seems to be more of a local resistance group.

I have not condoned what Hamas has done, but I have condemned Israel's actions. One can do the latter without being forced to condone Hamas. But I will say that I refuse to blame the deaths of Gaza people on Hamas, as Israel and America tries to. That is cowardly and stupid.

"I think that anyone should be afraid of lunatics who are willing to kill anyone in order to achieve their goals."

So you're against Israel too in this conflict. Glad we are on the same page.

Israel has already done this numerous times before with nonresults.

Why is an answer aside from that needed?

[identity profile] ihatepeoplealot.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
How many human beings have died as a result of 8 years of rocket fire?

[identity profile] ihatepeoplealot.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never heard a single news source, western or other, that's said Hamas does not use human shields, or that hamas is a "good guy".
