Of course the status quo is rarely in danger of being changed, especially in elections, where the vast majority of people exercise a delusion: they project their fantasies onto one candidate (and I'm not excluding the Ron Paul voters here, either) and then vote accordingly. One need look no further than seeing how many self-professed "conservatives" believe they can wish their desires onto Mitt Romney, if they only believe hard enough. The "liberals" thought the same thing about Obama.
