Actually you did. Unless this was a post made my someone hacking your account: I don't see a difference between what Newt said, and what Japan does.

In the actual story it notes this is from Buddhism. Unless what Newt said was inspired by Sinosphere Buddhism, this is not what actually is happening on both counts.
