Yo, folks! Today's Friday LULz begin with a test. I'm aware that i'm risking the deadliest of punishments for bringing up politics in the non-political OT thread, but i'm prepared to bear the consequences (namely: being smeared in chocolate all over and 36 virgins of undisclosed gender and age being unleashed at me to lick me off until i pass out; while the other 36 virgins remain at a secret location)...

So... The test!

Charlie Sheen v Muammar Gaddafi: whose line is it anyway?

The US actor and the Libyan leader have produced some choice lines recently. Can you distinguish between them?

I scored just 5 / 10. Guess i need'a get back to the pop-culture school room, duh...

Your turn, crazies! :P

Continuing work on Up With the Star.

From a point of divergence of Vice-President Butler I've gotten thus far Lincoln living through a second term and retiring under a cloud of scandal, an Ottoman victory in 1877 thanks to greater French arms from Napoleon III, who survives his war with the Germans with his throne intact, a Grant Administration that is extremely effective and scandal-free, and Archduke Maximilian as a liberal, less mentally cuckoo counterweight to his conservative brother on the throne of Austria (no -Hungary).

And all because one dude wanted to be VP instead of a general.

After I complete this one, I intend to work on a similar timeline where the Germans *do* attack the Soviet Union on 15 May 1941....hitting right into a Soviet military that while still deployed too far forward is ready and waiting for them to hit them. Like with Up With the Star the point of divergence sees a historical event *end* the same but how it gets there is vastly different and the ultimate historical consequences are much bigger still.

I might note that with Up With the Star any general war in Europe is more likely to see the ATL Russia as the aggressor for the same reason that Austria-Hungary was IOTL. Austria is a bit more self-assured on the domestic front and hence less likely to react out of proportion to an assassination in Sarajevo. Russia gets beaten in 1877, and is likely to be beaten *again* by Japan for similar reasons to OTL, which is going to leave Russia really, really irritable and looking for a chance to prove it can do something militarily.

Of course in Up With the Star, it's no guarantee that the alliance blocs in that WWI would necessarily look the same. Depending on Maximilian's influence, in fact, Austria might well side with France, the Ottomans ultimately with Germany, Russia with France, but the Italians with Germany, and Britain.....is still to be deciphered.

The question is misleading anyway. I don't know how to answer. Which of these towns is the closest to Eyjafjallajökull? Neither. Fyarðarbyggð is in the far east, Reykjavík is in the west, Hafnarfjörður and Kópavogur are relatively at the same distance as Reykjavík... What the hell?

In fact the closest town is Vík í Mýrdal.

My friend got 10, but she also has at least one story each week of a crazy person approaching her on public transport, so she's a crazy pro now.

This is BAD industrial music. There are no Rivet Gangstas.

This is GOOD industrial music. It contains ironic political commentary:

This is also GOOD industrial music.

Please be aware of the difference.

Posting a Skinny Puppy video is kind of a cop out. :P

I could never really get in to Skinny Puppy, it shouldn't bother me, but his voice just does. It just turns great music into something cheesy. cheeeeeeeesy.

Here's a song I can get behind:

Nine Inch Nails might not be undustrial, but this song IS! :P

I never really got in to a lot of the really industrial songs, it just got overdone so quickly, kind of like country music, except most industrial artists had the sense to then stop.

Something from before that happened

Front Line Assembly:
They were pretty industrial, but their sound has sort of evolved, they stayed creative.

Muammar "I do not hold any positions in this country, you cannot fire me" Gaddafi is no leader. He is just an ordinary person who happens to have a couple billion dollars in bank accounts. And hot female body guards. He told me that, so it must be true!

Fine, unleash the virgins on me!

"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
